Update: SOPA & PIPA Internet Censorship Legislation

ProBoards would like to sincerely thank all of you that participated in protesting the federal legislation SOPA and PIPA over the last few days. With over 51,000 clicks on our SOPA/PIPA protest banner, we’re thrilled by your activism and your support of continued internet freedoms. You were heard!

The largest online protest in history has fundamentally changed the game. SOPA and PIPA were dropped by Congress today. On January 18th, 13 million of us took the time to tell Congress to protect free speech rights on the internet. Hundreds of millions, maybe a billion, people all around the world saw what we did on Wednesday. See the amazing numbers here.

Your activism may have changed the way people fight for the public interest and basic rights forever.

Internet Censorship: SOPA and PIPA

On January 18th, ProBoards will stand with many other industry leaders including Google, Wikipedia, Reddit, and many others in protesting against some very flawed legislation that is going through Congress: SOPA and PIPA.  We firmly believe that, even with good intentions, these bills are inherently flawed, will damage the open nature of the Internet, and will hurt businesses worldwide.

For more information on this legislation, we highly recommend you read this blog post by Jason Harvey of Reddit, which goes into detail about why the bills are flawed.

Please take a moment out of your day to contact your elected representatives.  You can do so quickly and easily online by visiting SOPA Strike.
